Keçiören Municipality built a food production facility to meet the food needs of street animals.

The food production facility built by Keçiören Municipality was opened on October 4, World Animal Protection Day. In addition to the facility that will meet the food needs of stray animals, there will also be a 25-acre natural habitat and shelter in the area.

"We have opened this facility to provide food"

Speaking at the opening of the facility, Mayor of Keçiören Mesut Özarslan stated that they built this facility to meet the current food needs of animals and said, "Today, in order to respect both human rights and animal rights, to fulfill our responsibilities towards our environment and the society we live in, we have opened this facility in order to provide the food that is necessary for our animals on the street and our fellow citizens to live with animals. Thus, we are happy to fulfill 1 of the 60 projects we have promised."

"We are in a project that will destroy an environment that will make them aggressive"

Stating that they want to prevent stray animals from becoming aggressive with the shelter and natural habitat in the same region as the food production facilities, Özarslan said, "In our shelter, we will rehabilitate 100 stray animals, 50 in winter and 50 in summer, in a closed area within 4.5 acres. We are in a project that will destroy our aggressive animals on the streets, neither attacking people nor destroying an environment that will make them aggressive. These studies show the necessity and importance of not only our animals but also our society to live with our stray animals in peace and security."
