The exemplary project implemented in Siirt under the leadership of the Governor and Deputy Mayor Dr. Kemal Kızılkaya attracted attention across Turkey with its sensitivity and environmentalist approach towards stray animals.
50,000 m² Modern Nursing Home and Natural Habitat
The Animal Care Home, Rehabilitation Center and Natural Habitat created by Siirt Municipality is one of the exemplary projects not only in the region but also in the country with a total area of 50,000 square meters. The facility includes:
Street animals are provided with nutrition, shelter and treatment services,
Vaccination and sterilization procedures are carried out regularly,
The aim is to ensure that animals live in a peaceful environment, taking into account their natural living conditions.
1000 Kilos of Food Production with Zero Waste!
Another noteworthy innovative step in the project is the production of food within the scope of the Zero Waste Transformation Project.
Food waste from military units, dormitories, universities and hospitals is collected,
These wastes are reused as approximately 1000 kilograms of food every day in the Food Production Unit established within the hospice.
In this way, waste is prevented and street animals are fed.
Project on TRT Screens
This exemplary work of Siirt Municipality was widely covered on national television channels, especially TRT. Siirt's model of approaching stray animals with sensitivity inspires other local governments.
Governor Kızılkaya: "We are working hard!"
Governor Dr. Kemal Kızılkaya made the following statements about the project:
"Street animals are also residents of this city. Protecting their right to life is both a humanitarian and conscientious duty. With a modern center, we are both protecting our stray animals and bringing waste into the economy. May it be beneficial for Siirt and all of Turkey."
